Task 9 Product Style Profile

NEA - Sketching and product profile

Learning Objectives:

  • K: the importance of sketches and planning in the decision making process of creating a magazine.
  • U: how to use sketches to influence your stylistic decisions.
  • BAT: undertake a creative task in which you start the decision making process in terms of style of your magazine.

Introduction:
In this task, i am going to be creating and designing sketches for the style of my magazine, showing what i will like to include.

Draft one -
Magazine front cover
I have designed this magazine front cover with quick, rough text, to create my layout for my front cover. I have showed my draft to some of my peers in my class for feedback on how to improve. Majority of people suggested i make it clearer and cleaner, as it was quite busy and crammed.

This is the second draft for my magazine, where i have now included my actual headline, a strap line, and subtitles for what my magazine will include. This second draft has allowed me to get a better idea on what my front cover will actually look like.

conclusion:

I found this task useful because i will now be able to quickly create my front covers, and i can research on the topics i have chosen to focus on. Also, i now know which pictures i need to take for my cover.

Questions -

  • How did they helped you define content for your products? - My images helped define the content for my products because i found and created the colour scheme, the types of shots i will include, and high end fashion.
  • What will be your overall colour scheme of your productions? - My colour scheme will be black, white, and other minimal colours, for a simple, sophisticated and classy look, but still stylish and on trend.
  • What kind of images/shots would you use in your productions? - I am going to use all different types of shots for my magazine. Firstly, i will use long shots to show full outfits. middle shots for bags, belts, etc, and close ups for small details like jewellery, or showing makeup trends.
  • What kind of fonts would you use in your productions? - I will mainly use either a swirly handwriting font, or serif, to complete the simple, classy look.
  • What kind of mise-en-scene would you use in your productions? - I will have simple, minimalistic, dewy makeup, and multiple different hairstyle looks, including a sleek ponytail, and bouncy curls. I will have spotlight lighting to empathise details and create drama and dimension in my photography.
  • What kind of intertextuality would you use in your productions? - I am going to link my magazine to the movie ' Clueless " because i like the 90s fashion style, however i will make it more modern.
  • Which media theory(ies) are you likely to use in your productions? - I am going to use Bell  Hooks feminism theory.
